The other night my dad saw 4 racoons walk into our backyard, so I ran out there and filmed them for a bit :P
They were soo cute! haha, as you will hear me say multiple times in this video:

Google Technology
Soo...I recently learned that Google Maps now has a feature called "street view", where you can view ANY area of almost ANY street in the whole world! It's pretty cool lol.
Here's an example of a street I searched:

3D Animation
Today in my info-tech class we learned about 3D animation. We used a program called 3D Canvas to create and animate 3D images, and we watched some animated short films on youtube.
Here's one of the short films I watched - some of you may have seen this before on the dvd bonuses of Monsters Inc...or not...lol well I was bored :)

Our Society's Perception Of Beauty
Soo...today was picture day at school, and almost everyone did things to their hair and face that they don't usually do every day, to make themselves look better/prettier for their picture. Our society today has put such an emphasis on physical beauty, that we feel almost required to change ourselves in order to become "beautiful". A lot of magazine ads and billboards photoshop pictures of people in order to make them more attractive, therefore selling the product better.
Here's a good example:

My Goals/Plans For This School Year:
1. To not procrastinate with homework and projects.
2. To increase my typing speed to at least 50wpm (so nerdy, i know -
but i need to pass my info-tech class lol)
3. To write my resume, so it will be ready for next summer.
4. To take my driver's test and get my license as soon as I get out of school :P
Not a lot of goals, I know. Hopefully I'll think of some good ones and add them later :)

Artificial Intelligence In Our World
I was watching random videos on youtube recently (it's addicting, and you all know it), and came across a video about a robot that has the ability to perform simple household chores. It was interesting, and kinda got me thinking about how complicated and sophisticated our world's technology has become. It's crazy just seeing robots that are able to do things like chores, play ping pong, climb stairs, ride bikes, make sushi, and even play instruments (yes, i did look at all those videos) :P
And to think that people have the knowledge to create robots like this, it's just amazing. Who know's what they'll think of next.
This one looks so real:

Our School Retreat
On the second day of school at Carver Christian Highschool, the whole school went on our annual retreat - this year, it was to Rockridge Canyon camp. It was about a four hour drive there, but we were able to ride in nice coach busses with washrooms, adjustable seats, air-conditioning, and foot rests :)
After the long drive we finally arrived, and went to our assigned cabins. The cabins were pretty nice - and mine had a big window overlooking the lake. Once we were somewhat settled in, we all walked down to the dining hall and ate a much needed lunch :P
We had free time the rest of the day, to do all kinds of activities including kayaking, torpedo maxing (banana boating), mountain biking, hiking, swimming, and ziplining (they had the biggest zipline in Canada).
In the evenings and mornings we had chapel time to worship and hear what the speaker (Mrs.Lo-Voo) had to say to us.
On the last night, I think her talk really stood out to all of us, and made us reflect on our own lives - and we all just sat with each other singing to the worship songs and praying. We felt such a spiritual high that night, it was so amazing to see :)
Anyways, the next morning we packed everything up and cleaned the cabins - I was assigned to cleaning the toilets :/
But when everything was put away and done, we ate brunch and got on the busses for the trip back home. Us grade 10's ended up having to ride on the school bus this time, and the grade 9's got to ride in the coach busses with the other grades. It wasn't that bad actually, although we did have to stop at a chevron station to go to the washroom - we all pretty much held it for like two hours :S
Overall, our school retreat to Rockridge was a really great experience :D
