On the second day of school at Carver Christian Highschool, the whole school went on our annual retreat - this year, it was to Rockridge Canyon camp. It was about a four hour drive there, but we were able to ride in nice coach busses with washrooms, adjustable seats, air-conditioning, and foot rests :)
After the long drive we finally arrived, and went to our assigned cabins. The cabins were pretty nice - and mine had a big window overlooking the lake. Once we were somewhat settled in, we all walked down to the dining hall and ate a much needed lunch :P
We had free time the rest of the day, to do all kinds of activities including kayaking, torpedo maxing (banana boating), mountain biking, hiking, swimming, and ziplining (they had the biggest zipline in Canada).
In the evenings and mornings we had chapel time to worship and hear what the speaker (Mrs.Lo-Voo) had to say to us.
On the last night, I think her talk really stood out to all of us, and made us reflect on our own lives - and we all just sat with each other singing to the worship songs and praying. We felt such a spiritual high that night, it was so amazing to see :)
Anyways, the next morning we packed everything up and cleaned the cabins - I was assigned to cleaning the toilets :/
But when everything was put away and done, we ate brunch and got on the busses for the trip back home. Us grade 10's ended up having to ride on the school bus this time, and the grade 9's got to ride in the coach busses with the other grades. It wasn't that bad actually, although we did have to stop at a chevron station to go to the washroom - we all pretty much held it for like two hours :S
Overall, our school retreat to Rockridge was a really great experience :D
